The winter social is no longer on campus, but will be 9-11 p.m. at the Cole Community Center.

The class councils and student council will put on a winter social 9 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Cole Community Center. Admission to the social is free. Class favorites and Mr. and Miss CHS will be announced 10 p.m. at the social.

The winter social and school-wide voting for Mr. and Miss CHS are annual traditions. Senior class sponsor Robin Terry said this year’s social coincides with the Chamber of Commerce lighting the Christmas tree and the rest of the “Christmas in Canyon” celebration.

“There will be events going on in the square, a parade and Canyon’s choirs are going to be there,” Terry said. “There are a lot of CHS students who will be in the Parade of Lights. We’re hoping those students will just come on over to the community center and be a part of the Winter social.”

Terry said students are encouraged to dress semi-formally or in holiday attire.

“Some people like to dress up,” Terry said. “Dress up and make it a holiday affair if you want to, but if you are involved in the parade and the square activities, just come as you are.”

Only Canyon High School students will be admitted to the social. Terry said she hopes the holiday theme and free admission will increase school-wide participation.

“We just want kids to come be a part of it,” Terry said. “It’s a festive time to get together with some of your classmates.”
