Throughout the next week, the weather is forecasted to be windy, hot and dry, creating conditions for wildfires around the Panhandle. To lower the risk of wildfires, Xcel Energy will be doing Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) starting today at 9 a.m CT.
The PSPS will affect both Randall and Potter county, along with surrounding counties in the Northern Texas area, and will affect around 15,000 customers of Xcel. Weather conditions are expected to go down around 5 p.m. today, creating a decrease in the PSPS’, but high winds are expected to continue through Thursday. Several businesses will be closed throughout this time, so Xcel advises customers to take action with planning and preparation for these potential outages throughout the week.
