Junior Joseph Trevino and sophomore Dylan Knight run the 3K at the Rebel Run Saturday.

The boys’ varsity and junior varsity cross country teams competed at the Tascosa Rebel Run Saturday at John Stiff Memorial Park in Amarillo. The boys’ and girls’ cross country teams will compete at the Lubbock Invitational meet Saturday, the Canyon Invitational Oct. 4 and in the district meet Oct. 21.

Both teams won first place overall with a total of 29 points for varsity and 30 points for junior varsity. Junior Joseph Trevino came in second place, followed by sophomore Dylan Knight in third and senior Jacob Wilhelm in fourth place for varsity. In junior varsity, senior Braden Holllis placed first with freshman Jack McConnell in fourth, senior Trevor Fleeman in sixth and freshman Cade Rebstock in seventh. This is the first time in eight years Tascosa has not won their own meet.

“The team did great and that really reinforced our confidence for the rest of the season,” Trevino said. “If everything goes well, I think we will have a good chance of getting first at state.”
