Band to perform Pre-UIL concert Tuesday, March 27
The band will perform its practice UIL concert Tuesday, March 27 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
The concert will feature both the symphonic and honor bands. Attendance is free, and parents along with community members are encouraged to attend.
“Practice is very different than performance,” head band director Mike Sheffield said. “The performance nerves and the intensity of getting it right the first time, it takes getting used to.”
Each band will perform three pieces in preparation for the UIL contest April 19 at Randall High School.
“It is a great way to metaphorically put the metal in the fire and get the impurities out,” Sheffield said. “It’s a little scary, but it always yields good things. Getting that first performance out of the way makes every one after it infinitely better.”
