When Canyon and Randall volleyball play Oct. 10, they will join forces to raise money for the Crenshaw fund.

The Canyon volleyball teams will host a fundraiser game against Randall Tuesday, Oct. 10 to raise money for JV coach Debbie Crenshaw’s battle against cancer.

At 5, 6 and 7 p.m. the teams will compete while buckets will be passed around throughout the stands to raise money. The concession stand will have a pulled pork sandwich meal deal with 100 percent of the $5 purchase price going to the Crenshaw fund.

Community members can also purchase yellow shirts to “yellow out” in support of Crenshaw. Yellow represents the cancer ribbon color for bone cancer, and shirt proceeds will benefit the Crenshaw fund.

I think something great about our community is how we rally together in times of need.

— Madison Jones, 11

Since hearing of Coach Crenshaw’s cancer at the beginning of the school year, the volleyball teams have been by her side to support.

“All of us really want to help and take the win for her so she’s happy,” sophomore Kameron Diaz said. “She really does love volleyball, and we all miss her.”

Volleyball players said they hope the event can provide some basic support for her and her family.

“I think that all these donations from us and others, buying t-shirts and donating money are helping her out considering costs and stress it brings over her and her family,” Diaz said.

Juinor Madison Jones said she expects tonight to be a huge success with the support from the community and the love they have for her.

“Everyone around here knows and loves Mrs. Crenshaw and her family,” Jones said. “I think something great about our community is how we rally together in times of need. I would expect nothing less than that tomorrow.”
