This year’s robotics competition has a theme of AI, where participants must craft a robot to perform specific tasks, including picking up golf ball game pieces (Factoids) and determining whether they are true or false, the true ones are weighted and magnetic. The robot also needs to be able to open gates, pick up a 2-inch PVC pipe from various heights, release Factoids from different heights, create a neural link, and perform many other tasks. The competition also features other important aspects, including a 76-page engineering notebook that explains the entire process of building the company, a 36-slide marketing presentation that students must present to judges, a display exhibit with its own presentation, and, lastly, they must demonstrate good spirit and sportsmanship. The team has worked tirelessly to achieve all these demands by working hard in and out of class, some nights spent at the school till 10-11 at night. The robotics team has worked more than 900+ hours after school to make this happen.

Kade Shaltry, Staff Reporter
Hi, I’m Kade Shaltry. I am a senior at Canyon High, and this is my fourth year in the journalism department and third year on the Eagles Tale Staff. I love being in the newspaper because of the people and environment I work in. A couple of things to know about me is that I love to build model cars and make things out of wood. I enjoy driving and working on my car. I’m also involved in robotics, and we hope to make it to state this year. Let’s get this school year over with!
