Seniors Darion Cash and Ava Haddock are crowned Homecoming King and Queen.
Haddock was crowned Homecoming Queen at the Homecoming game against Greenwood. Haddock’s father had won homecoming king when he was in high school. “When they said my name I was in pure shock. I was like ‘oh my gosh this is crazy this is not real.’ It was insane but really cool at the same time,” Haddock said. “I went to him [her father] and I was like she [Mrs. Frausto] told me you won, and he said, ‘Yeah I think so but I just didn’t mention it,’ and I was like well that would have been cool to know.”
Hello! My name is Alizae and this will be my third year in Journalism, and my first year on the Newspaper staff. I also compete on the Journalism UIL team in Editorial Writing; although I do plan on doing more events. Outside of journalism, I am a 3 year varsity wrestler and I run Track here at the high school. In my free time I like to hangout with my siblings and friends. If you know me, you know that my brothers and sisters are everything to me, and I love them with my whole heart. :) I am looking forward to a great year with a bunch of wonderful stories!!
Hello. I am Mrs. Frausto. This is my first year at Canyon High advising and coaching journalism after spending several years teaching at Canyon Intermediate. Art, photography and writing have always fueled my happiness, and I learned early on that through journalism I can practice all three. At 14 years old, I shattered my ankle, forcing me to hang up my soccer cleats and dig out an old camera to join the yearbook staff. My journalism career started as a sophomore at Canyon High, pushed me through college and the non-profit sector early into my adulthood before gracefully bringing me back home to Canyon High. I believe photographs are worth a thousand words, words are worth a pot of gold and there is always a story waiting to be told. I spend my time away from school with Coach Frausto and our awesome 7-year-old daughter playing golf and making memories.
