One act play auditions will take place on Thursday Dec. 16 at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium. “Students need to audition this Thursday if they are interested in being on the cast or the crew,” Howell said. “There’s a Google Classroom to join. They have an audition form in there and all the materials they need to know.”

Auditions for this year’s One Act play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Shakespeare, are on Thursday Dec. 16 at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium. Students can access audition materials on Google Classroom by entering the code: v3v2kcz.

One Act play is the competition piece the theater department performs at UIL contests. Theater director Kylie Howell is filling 20 acting roles and five stage crew positions through the audition process. Those auditioning for a cast role will need to memorize one of the short monologues from the audition form. Crew members will be selected through a quiz over the stage crew handbook.

“It is a big commitment, it takes a lot of time and energy to put the show together,” Howell said. “We have evening rehearsals, festivals and the competitions themselves, depending on how well we’re doing at competitions we could go as long as May.”

Howell said this is a fun opportunity to make friends and grow as a performer and stage crew member in a competitive environment.
