Homecoming activities begin Monday

Mums created by the floral design class are available for $8 in The Eagle’s Nest.

Homecoming events will be in full swing the week of Oct. 6-10.

Beginning with Movie Day on Monday, students can participate in dress-up days at no cost. Tuesday scores with Sports Day while students are invited to release their inner nerds for Nerd Day on Wednesday. Red, white and blue will fill the halls for Patriotism Day on Thursday, and purple pride will reign on Friday for Spirit Day.

The Eagle’s Nest is selling wrist mums and garters, created by the floral design class, for $8.

Students and organizations who wish to participate in Thursday afternoon’s homecoming parade need to coordinate with their class or club sponsor and notify Lance Culbert in room 1306. Parade participants will meet at University Church of Christ at 4:30 p.m. to line up. The parade will conclude at the high school. The parade route is posted above.

The powder puff game kicks off Thursday at 7:00 on the campus football field. Student council officer Trevor Glenn said the purpose of the powder puff game is to get more students involved.

“It is one of those fun events for everyone,” Glenn said. “This year we are doing one game. It is going to be the freshman and juniors against the sophomores and seniors.”

The homecoming king will be crowned at half-time of the powder puff game, which will benefit the student benevolent fund.

Friday is a half-day for students, and the homecoming pep rally will be at 10:15 a.m. Students will be released at 12:08 p.m. See exact bell schedule for Friday here.

The homecoming queen will be announced prior to the homecoming game, which kicks off at 7 p.m. Queen candidates include Abby Franks, Alexis Cuellar, Katie Beth Stafford and Savannah Bartlett. King candidates include Ty Crenshaw, Cade McCallie, Aaron Hughes and Trevor Glenn.
