On Tuesday, the currently state-ranked #2 Canyon tennis team secured the district title with a win against Dumas 19-0. The Eagles completed their district team tennis schedule sweeping District 5-4A 10-0 with an overall record of 20-2.
Seniors Bradley Enriquez, Kaylee Melear, Samantha Melear and Cooper Richardson were recognized for their contributions to the team during senior night, earning a combined 101 wins this season to lead the Eagles to their undefeated district play.
“The hard work that these student-athletes have put forth paid off,” tennis coach David Deleon said. “A district championship is hard to come by, especially in our district in any sport, so having this gold ball means that night in and night out, the Canyon Eagles were the best team over the regular season.”
