A brick and net backstop have replaced the chain link.

The Connor Park baseball field is undergoing a series of renovations estimated to be completed sometime in mid-February.

New additions include a brick and net backstop, turf bullpen, purple home side bleachers and new fences located next to the foul lines. The gap between the centerfield wall and the right field wall will be closed with a purple, vinyl coated chain link fence. Future plans include building a new ticket booth, concession stand, locker room, expanding the dugouts and removing the visitor side bleaches. New bleachers will be installed that will attach to and be the same height as the bleachers in front of the press box. These changes do not have a set completion date.

“Just coming to a game and actually finding a place to sit has been difficult,” head baseball coach John Doan said. “We have had playoff games here and it’s been tight seating. We have had Randall games with tight seating so hopefully with the addition of new stands, we can get more people out here to see  what we are doing.”

Senior baseball player Reese Patterson said that the improvements could make the team more motivated to win at home.

“If you have a good home field to play on, then you definitely want to win there,” Patterson said. “I feel like it adds a little something to where we come out to win and fight a little bit harder each game.”

Doan said that he hopes that the new renovations will give the field a more modern look and help fans get a better view of the game from the stands.

“We have had a lot of positive feedback from the community about what they see from the street,” Doan said. “My thing is, don’t just see it from the street. Grab a schedule and come support our guys and watch them play.”
