Regional playoff postponed to Nov. 30

The varsity football team will play Everman in Vernon 4 p.m. Nov. 30 for the regional playoff game. The game was previously scheduled for Nov. 28 but has been postponed due to inclement weather.

The Eagles advanced after defeating El Paso Burges in the area playoff game with a final score of 42-7, holding Burges to a scoreless first half.

“We scored a lot of points and the defense did a very good job,” junior quarterback Gunnar Palacios said. “We played as a team.”

Everman advanced to the regional round of playoffs after defeating Rider Nov. 20.

“They are a very good football team,” Palacios said. We expect a good, hard-fought game.”

The winner of the regional playoff game will advance to the state quarterfinal game against the winner of the Nov. 27 game against Eastlake and Lake Dallas. Canyon has not reached the regional playoff game since 2014, resulting in a loss to Aledo.
