At the dinner table, Mr. Henderson, played by junior Maverick Evans, informs Mr. Vanderhoff, played by junior Garret Brown, that he owes the government 24 years in back taxes.

Students from upper level theater classes will present ‘You Can’t Take It With You’ Saturday and Sunday in the auditorium.

The Saturday performance starts at 7:30 p.m., and the Sunday matinée starts at 2:30 p.m. Tickets cost $5 for both adults and students.

“Its about a family that’s just kind of out there,” theater teacher David Yirak said. “They live life to the fullest, and they’re really not concerned with making a lot of money. The drama comes in when the daughter of the family falls in love with the boss’s son. She’s the normal one of the family and he comes from a very conservative type of family. A lot of drama and comedy comes from if these two families can ever combine and mix and lead to happiness.”

Yirak said the show has many good ensemble roles.

“People can expect to be thoroughly entertained,” Yirak said. “It’s really funny. It’s an American classic. It’s been one of the most produced plays for the last 70 years.”
