The varsity baseball team played their first home game of the season Tuesday against the Borger Bulldogs. They went up 9-0 after the first inning and never looked back as they shut out Borger 22-0. Catcher Jake Rogers hit the only home run of the game, a three-run shot over the right-center field wall.
The first five runs the Eagles scored came off of walks, wild pitches and one hit-by-pitch. They also scored three runs in the second inning and 10 runs in the third. The game lasted four and a half innings due to the mercy rule, where the game ends if one team has a 10-run lead or greater after five innings or four and a half if the home team has such a lead.
They will travel to San Antonio to play East Central High School on Thursday and Antonian Prep the next day before they return home to play Randall the following two games.
