The Science Bowl purple team took second place and won $500 for the science department at the BWXT Pantex Regional Science Bowl at WTAMU Feb. 27. Amarillo High, the first place team, will compete in Washington D.C.
Thirty-two teams competed against each other in a bracket style tournament. Teams try to answer the most questions correctly about biology, chemistry, earth science, general science, math and physics.
Members of the Science Bowl Team are already thinking of next year’s competition and said they are optimistic to win.
“Though we’re graduating two students, one being a National Merit Finalist, we’ll still have plenty of people left,” Ferril said. “We could still very well take first next year.”
The purple team consisted of Trey Holloway, Clay Styer, Trevor Ferril, Austin Walsh and Katie Briggance.
