NASA Space Camp applications due Oct. 25

All juniors interested in science, technology, engineering and math can apply for an all-expense paid six-day trip to NASA’s Johnson Space Center this summer through High School Aerospace Scholars. The deadline to apply is 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Students must complete two essays, obtain an educator recommendation letter and have their guidance counselor’s contact information before applying here. After applying, students accepted to the program will receive a confirmation email to access the online course from [email protected].

After acceptance to the online program, students will be guided through interactive lessons with Texas certified teachers from Nov. 2017 through Feb. 2018. Throughout the course, students will create technical drawings, solve math problems and participate in discussion forums. After completing the courses, selected students will receive tours of NASA facilities, participate in team projects, hands-on design challenges and activities to plan a mission to Mars and attend briefings directed by NASA scientists and engineers. NASA will be chose the final trip recipients in April 2018.
