Choir students move on to pre-area audition

After making All-Region Choir Saturday, 17 students and three alternates move on to the Pre-Area Audition in December.

Twenty-five students competed Saturday in the All-Region choir competition at Tascosa High School. The Pre-Area Audition December 8will be at Caprock High School.  Around 400 students compete in All-Region from schools across the Panhandle area.  Twenty students per voice section make All-Region, and 12 students per section make Pre-Area.

“The most rewarding part of All-State is getting to spend time with music and using it to praise God,” senior Rachel Smith said.

Smith and senior Abigail Walsh both placed first chair for their voice section.

“I’m in a new voice section this year, so I felt like the competition was harder by having an all new challenge,” Walsh said. “Singing has always been my passion and I really enjoy the time I get to spend with other people that share this passion.”

Students continuing on to the Pre-Area Audition include these singers:

Michayla Acker

Christian Farren

Trevor Ferril (Alternate)

Kori Adair, Co-Editor-in-Chief
¡Hola! My name is Kori Adair, and I am a senior at Canyon High. This is my second year to serve on the newspaper staff, and I will be filling the position of Co-Editor-in-Chief alongside Cortlyn Dees.  Outside of newspaper, I will also be participating in the school musical, the One Act play, and choir.  I enjoy reading, witty banter, and attempting to make fancy beverages. I want to major in chemistry at Baylor University after graduation.  I am beyond thrilled to be on the newspaper staff again, and I know we’re going to have a fantastic year!
