Center City Mayhem not worth price of admission

A chilling scream filled the air as ghost and ghouls floated around the halls while the floor was stained with blood. In the most climatic point of terror, a small shady girl jumped out and shouted, “I’m going to eat your face!” Laughter was the only thing to be heard for nearly five minutes as tears finally fell from the faces of the victims. The only problem was, they were tears of laughter and the victims were in a haunted house.

Center City Mayhem is held every year at the old YMCA building in downtown Amarillo. Open between Oct. 5 and Oct. 31, I chose to go opening weekend.  The attraction was awful and not scary in the least. The entire experience was less than eight minutes long and one of the least scary things I have ever witnessed. “Saw 7” may have actually been better than the overpriced laughter I paid $7.50 to see.

Junior Taylor Fritz said it was fun, but it was not worth what she paid for it agreed that it was more funny than scary. She rated the props as good but the actors as terrible

With the abundance of Halloween scare opportunities, keep looking if you want real fright. Center City Mayhem was fun, but it was not worth what I paid for it.

Josh Collins, Associate Editor
This one time, in Australia… Hello everyone! My name is Josh Collins, and I am an associate editor. I am a senior at Canyon High and am involved with several clubs and organizations. I am the president of Key Club, the president of National Honors Society, and am involved heavily with the American Sign Language Honor Society. I am also in the PRO program as well as the CHS End It movement. This summer I took a trip to Australia to attend a week long program at the University of Melbourne for the Young Leaders Winter Program. It was the best trip of my life, it opened my eyes to many cultural differences, and I loved every second. I also worked this summer at Ceta Canyon Methodist Church and Retreat Center. It was my second year working there and was an amazing experience. If I’m not at home napping, I am probably at Sonic or the movies. I love sushi, music, the ocean and writing! I especially love writing entertainment review and features. For college, my dream is to return to the University of Melbourne.
