Canyon falls to Dumas, prepares to face Lady Longhorns

The varsity volleyball team felt the heat from the fifth state-ranked Dumas last night after a straight set loss.

Canyon battled hard in the first set but could pull it out, falling 19-25.

The Lady Eagles found their game in the second set, but was overpowered again by Dumas, 22-25.

Canyon never could bounce back during the third set and fell to Dumas 10-25 in the final set.

“We played our hearts out last night, and I think we have a good chance against them next time,” senior Hailey Harris said.

The volleyball teams will face off against the Caprock Longhorns this Saturday at the Canyon High School gym. Freshmen begin at 11 a.m., JV at 12 p.m., and varsity at 1 p.m.

“We hope to win and we hope to have a good crowd to cheer us on,” Harris said.
