Assistant Principal Mark McCulloch is ready for students to reach their goal.

Student council has added some extra noise to passing periods until more students participate in this year’s canned food drive.

The canned food drive began mid-September, but the only money that has been raised came from the Student Council’s participation in United Way. To encourage students to donate, Student Council will play “Dominick the Italian Christmas Donkey Song” during each passing period until the drive reaches either $3,000 or 15,000 pounds of food.

“Students haven’t been participating in the canned food drive like they have in years past,” senior Justin Johnson, president of Student Council said. “We don’t have as much money and food raised as we should. We started in the middle of September, and it ends on Nov. 30. We tried to do a Hunger Games theme to make it fun, we made announcements, we’ve made posters and flyers, we even made a video to show students that the food drive is going on. So we went to the extreme to annoy people.”
