Filled with up and coming stars, “Pitch Perfect,” unexpectedly met comedic standards set by hit movies such as “The Hangover,” “Dinner for Shmucks” and “Anchorman.” I encourage all not to dismiss this movie because of the music or chick flick qualities because the comedy makes up for it all. There was never a dull moment, and the cheesiness found in most girly movies was kept to minimum.
The film, directed by Jason Moore, follows college freshman Becca (played by Amy Kendrick), who must join her school’s all-girl acapella group, The Bellas. While competing to win a national acapella contest, Becca, a bit of loner and an aspiring music producer, finds a way to spice up the group with her original remixes in an attempt to break tradition and win.
The cast was incredible with each member demonstrating outstanding comedic timing. The best actor in the film was Rebel Wilson, who played Fat Amy. Wilson has been making a name for herself within the comedic world. With Fat Amy on her resume, she has definitely proved she deserves a place next to the likes of Zak Galifianakis, Steve Carrel and many others.
The soundtrack is something worth listening to and includes remixes of recent hits and some classics from the past performed within the movie. After its release Oct. 2, it moved into the Billboard top 200 chart and is predicted to make big sales. It is available to buy in stores and to download on iTunes.
If you love comedy or if you just love an intriguing story line and quality music, then “Pitch Perfect” is the movie for you.
