From the minute “The Time Traveler’s Wife” starts to play, expect to be confused. I went to see the movie knowing all the information from clips and trailers, but not knowing enough about the actual story. I made the mistake of having the movie plotted out in my head and was thoroughly confused throughout most of the movie. The storyline is not presented from beginning to end, but rather the plot bounces back and forth between the future, past, and present.
The movie is based on the novel written by Audrey Niffenegger. Mirroring the set-up of the book, the movie’s plot presents both perspectives of the main characters.
This movie will be enjoyed most by those who have enjoyed Nicholas Sparks’s movies such as “A Walk to Remember,” “The Notebook” and “Nights in Rodanthe.” The entire movie is an emotional roller coaster so when the movie ends, you may not be sure whether you hated what you just saw or loved it.
However, most people will not be able to deny their enjoyment for this sappy love story.
