With the NFL football season coming to a close, the New England Patriots will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles in a Super Bowl rematch from the 2004-2005 season. Super Bowl LII kicks off at Feb. 4 at 5:30 p.m. at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minnesota.

The New England Patriots are coming off a late comeback win in the AFC championship against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Quarterback Tom Brady proved once again his experience and heroic display late in prime time games were too much for the Jags after scoring 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to barely win the game.

The lack of experience this season from Foles puts the Patriots as the favorites to win it all.”

The Patriots have had only 13 turnovers this season, the second fewest in the National Football League. They have a 16-0 record in the playoffs when having a positive turnover differential under future Pro Football Hall of Fame coach Bill Belichick. The Patriots experience will give them a definite advantage, and they lead as the favorite to the take the Vince Lombardi Trophy for the second season in a row.

After being the underdog once again in the NFC championship, the Eagles proved critics wrong and obliterated the favored Vikings 38-7. The Eagles have taken the word “underdog” as their main slogan throughout the postseason, and they have not disappointed in the least. After possible league MVP Carson Wentz suffered a leg injury at the end of the regular season, many thought the number one seeded Eagles were out of the Super Bowl picture. But with the confidence of backup quarterback Nick Foles leading his team, they have been red hot since. Obviously, the lack of experience this season from Foles puts the Patriots as the favorites to win it all, but veteran additions like WR Alshon Jeffery and RB Jay Ajayi have made the Eagles a dangerous team.

The stacked veteran defense from the Eagles ranks fourth in points and yardage allowed this season. Head coach Doug Pederson took a 7-9 2016 team to the best-ranked team in the NFC this year at a regular season record of 13-3. The Eagles are coming for their first Super Bowl win in franchise history, and I wouldn’t count Philadelphia out of anything at this point.

This game will be close until the end, and both of these teams could easily take the trophy. In the end, the experience of  Tom Brady and Bill Belichick will be too much for the Eagles.

I predict a 28-24 Patriots win off a last minute touchdown from the Pats.”

— Seth Nickell, 11

I predict a 28-24 Patriots win off a last minute touchdown from the Pats. Brady has proven time and time again that no matter what the score is, his legendary play in big games down the stretch is too much for any opponent. Also, Belichick has surrounded Brady with even more weapons than last year, which almost guarantees a back-to-back championship. The Patriots have been favored in every game this season and the Eagles have not been favored once in the playoffs. With that being said, I wouldn’t count out the underdogs too quickly because of their ability to prove everyone wrong.

If veteran tight end Rob Gronkowski remains in concussion protocol and cannot play in Sunday’s game, the Patriots chance of winning will be hurt. Lastly, Alshon Jeffery said after last year’s regular season, his team is going to win the next Super Bowl. He didn’t state what team that he would win it with, but it is now clear he was not bluffing after making it to the championship with the Eagles.

Get settled in, grab some chips and queso and enjoy the game of the century. Super Bowl LII is here.
