The Chamber Choir will perform Monday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. in West Texas A&M University’s Mary Moody Northen Hall. De Zavala Men’s choir and the Crestview Eaglairs will also sing. The Chamber Choir will perform five pieces selected for their TMEA performance Friday, Feb. 13The event is open to the public.

Members of the Soaring Pride Band will perform in ensembles that same night. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the commons, student groups will play selections chosen for the annual solo and ensemble competition. At the concert, band directors will critique performances in order to help the students prepare for the contest Saturday at the university.

“It’s sort of a wake-up call to those who haven’t really been practicing enough,” assistant band director Luis Hernandez said. “They get to perform whether they’re ready or not. It’s sort of a tuneup for the actual contest on Saturday. If they’re going to make mistakes or they maybe fall apart or have to stop, they can do it in a friendly environment here instead of in front of a judge.”
