The Lady Eagle softball team will travel to Wichita Falls to compete against Burleson Centennial for the regional semifinal champion title in a best of three game series starting 7 p.m. Friday and continuing  11 a.m. Saturday.

The Lady Eagles defeated Canutillo last Saturday, May 14. With the backing of strong defense, the Lady Eagles crushed the ball leading to a 15-5 victory and became regional quarter final champions. Both games will be at Sunrise Field and fans can find parking at 4709 Barnett Road. These games will be played on turf this round instead of natural surface. Junior Brynn Owen said the team has been practicing on turf in order to acquire a better feel for how the field will play.

This is the first time we have faced a team in a series with more than one pitcher.

“We have been able to have the opportunity to go take some fielding practices on turf fields this week,” Owen said. “We have also been hitting and working on different offensive situations to help us out. We have been successful so far because we know our season is riding on whether or not we win.”

Junior catcher Sloane Precure said that this is the first time they will face a team in playoffs that has more than one pitcher that can contest the Lady Eagles deep pitching staff.

“Every team has wanted to play one game so far,” Precure said. “They have two pitchers this round and it’ll be different because this is the first time we have faced a team in a series with more than one pitcher.”

Owen said if the team keeps playing the way they have been playing, they will continue their success.

“As long as we keep hitting the ball the way we have been, limit the errors on the field and put pressure on the other team in the beginning of the game, I think we should be able to have a good weekend,” Owen said. “We are just out there to play the game we have been playing for the past 12 years.”
