Lady Eagle volleyball wins bi-district championship

The varsity volleyball team swept the Frenship Tigers Tuesday night to win the title of bi-district champions.

Canyon battled hard against the Tigers to win the first game 25-20.

After finding themselves down 1-10 at the beginning of the second game, Canyon fought back to tie the score at 17-17. With the comeback momentum behind them, the Lady Eagles pulled out the second game 25-21.

With victory in sight, Canyon defeated Frenship by a close score of 26-24.

“Our game against Frenship was the best feeling in the world,” senior Kacie McKee said. “To come from behind to beat them in all three games was an awesome feeling. We accomplished a lot that game as a team.”

The Lady Eagles will travel to Artesia, New Mexico today to play El Paso Burges. The game begins at 7 p.m.

“The game today will definitely not be an easy step on the road to state but I really think we have the ability to beat them,” McKee said. “We don’t exactly know how they play so we have to come out strong with high intensity. I have faith in my team and I honestly believe we can make it past this round.”
