Cross country races today at district in Amarillo

The boys and girls cross country teams compete in the district meet today in Amarillo.

“We are defending a seven-year winning streak, so we are looking to extend that,” boys cross country coach Wes Kirton said.

Senior Mesa Allison is fighting for an individual regional championship this year.

“Obviously our goal this year is to make it to state,” Kirton said. “Same old goal. Make it to state and see what we can do.”

The girls cross country team is currently ranked second in the state.

“We are looking forward to district, region, and state,” girls cross country coach Ray Baca said. “If we can get and stay healthy, I believe we will have a great performance at the state meet.”
