Canyon dominates Caprock, prepares to “Dig Pink” against the Sandies

The varsity volleyball team defeated Caprock in straight sets Saturday, 25-16, 25-11 and 25-16.

“We did well capitalizing our strengths and playing as a team,” senior Katherine Pagitt said. “Last year we let up against them and let them get a game, but this year we stayed strong against a weaker team.”

The game scheduled for tonight against the Amarillo High Sandies has been moved to Thursday night at the CHS gym. Freshmen will play at 5 p.m., JV at 6 p.m.  and varsity at 7 p.m.

“We’re going to have to play well and not let ourselves get down because they are a strong team,” Pagitt said. “We have to stick with what we know and do what we do best because if we don’t they will take advantage of that.”

Thursday will be “Dig Pink” night and any student wearing a pink shirt will receive free admission.

“I think it’s important that we are aware of breast cancer and the harmful effects of it,” Pagitt said. “Breast cancer has a special place in my heart because my grandma died from it about 10 years ago.”
