Lady Eagle volleyball sweeps double header

The varsity volleyball team faced off in a double header Tuesday night against San Jacinto and Trinity Christian.

In their first match against the San Jacinto Patriots, the Lady Eagles were neck-in-neck after fighting back from being behind early on in the game. They defeated San Jacinto in straight sets 25-19, 25-16, 25-10.

During their final match, Canyon faced off in a tougher battle against Trinity Christian. After a suspenseful second game, they beat the Tigers 25-17, 25-21, 25-15.

“The San Jacinto game started off slow but we picked up our level of play by the last game,” junior Makenna Carson said. “The Trinity game went really well. They had some good hitters but our defense had a really good match and our team as a whole played great.”

The varsity girls will travel to Lubbock to play Monterrey tomorrow, beginning at 11 a.m.

“We’re just going to have to focus on playing our level of volleyball,” Carson said. “We may have to play Monterrey in the playoffs and we want to leave a lasting impression on them after this game.”
