Cross country teams preview regional course this weekend

The cross country teams began their seasons with wins in both the Eagle 6 Mile Relay and the Burkbernett meets in August with both of the varsity teams placing first and second.

The boys and girls will travel to Lubbock tomorrow to compete.

“It will be a good time for us to see the regional course,” boys head cross country coach Wes Kirton said. “It will be the only time we see it.”

Both teams will run at Mae Simmons Park, with the girls junior varsity team beginning at 8:30a.m., followed by the varsity girls at 9:05 a.m. The boy’s JV begins at 11 a.m. and varsity starts at 11:30 a.m.

“This part of the season we do easier meets and get the new guys used to running,” junior James Ray said. “In two weeks, when we go to OSU, we’ll have bigger teams going against us and more competition.”
