Volleyball sets up for season

Competing against what is said to be the toughest 4A district in the state, the volleyball team is fighting for a position in the playoffs.

The volleyball team holds a 2-3 record for district and is ranked thirteenth in the state after challenging three other top 4A teams in Texas. The Eagles trail behind number two Randall, number nine Hereford and number twelve Dumas. Including non-district play, the volleyball team holds a winning record for the entire season.

The girls competed and placed in two tournaments, taking fifth in Seminole and second at the home Canyon-Randall tournament.

The JV and freshman also hold winning records, with JV at 15-8 for the season and freshman at 18-6. Both teams are 4-1 in district play. Junior varsity was the only team to defeat Dumas in a three-game split, and freshman defeated Randall at Randall 25-23, 25-16.

All three teams end their first round of district play on Saturday as they travel to Pampa and will start their second half of district play with another game on the road to Dumas Tuesday, Oct. 6.
