Registration now open for spring blood drive
Students can sign up beginning today through Feb. 16 for the spring blood drive, Feb. 17 and 18.
Appointments can be scheduled in room 1306 for time slots between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. for both days. To donate, 16-year-old students must have a signed parent permission form which can be picked up in room 1306. Students 17 years and older can donate without parental permission. Key Club organizes the blood drives and provides volunteers to help facilitate. During February, the Coffee Memorial Blood Center hosts a contest sponsored by Kids Inc. called Donor Days. Last year, Canyon High won Donor Days by donating the most blood and Key Club used the money to implement a school-wide paper recycling program.
“There’s always a need for blood,” Key Club adviser Lance Culbert said. “School donations help ensure that we have a supply of everything that we need no matter what situations comes up. We never know who is going to need blood at what time for what reason.”
