Students can sign up to donate for the Jan. 12 blood drive by emailing blood drive coordinator Lance Culbert with their name, age and three periods they could donate. Contrary to previous drives, students ages 16 and 17 will need a signed permission form.

LIghtsticks, a phenomenon unique to Asian music, are plastic cheering lights fans bring to concerts. The lights are unique to the band, and can range from $30 to $100. Some lightsticks even hook up to bluetooth and can create designs within the crowd.

The CDC encourages students 12 years and older to get a COVID-19 vaccination. The district is providing an easy way for students to get their vaccinations with four different clinics. Walgreens and United Supermarkets is also offering free vaccinations by appointments.

This semester, Danny Parrot was appointed as Chief technology officer, taking the place of Michael Keough, who left to work at Region 16. Parrot previously worked at Region 16 for 15 years, where he helped schools deploy technology in classrooms and around campus. I have a unique skill set where I have both management experience and technology experience, Parrot said.

To be effective, masks should cover both ones nose and mouth. Wearing a mask below ones nose, under ones chin or hanging off ones face eliminates the purpose of the mask and creates a higher risk of infection. For best results, a face mask should contain multiple layers of fabric or a filter, and should be washed frequently.

Juniors and seniors will be able to take engineering courses through the Pre-University Program at West Texas A&M University. “One of the things about the College of Engineering at WT is we practice what we call human-centered engineering,” Dr. Emily Hunt, WT Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics Dean, said. “We believe that once we have developed these skills over the course of our education--engineering and hard work--you develop a skill set that impacts humanity directly. We have a responsibility to use the skills we have received and developed over time to make a difference for people.”

Clark and her siblings were rewarded with a trip to Tokyo Disney Sea after finishing their first Japanese language textbook. Japanese has three written languages: Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji. They worked on reading, writing and speaking while in the country.
