The swim team completed their season at regionals in Hereford Feb 3. and 4.

The swim team  had two relay teams and an one individual compete at regionals. The girls 200 free relay team was the only Canyon team to advance to finals and included freshmen Rylee Higgins and Joey Vanlandingam with sophomores Julia Parrott and Livy Butcher.

“I had some personal records in my individual events and in my relays,” senior Danielle Rice said. “I feel pretty confident about how I did this season. I think we did really well.”

Swim Coach Stefanie Parrott teaches at Randall High School and coached the swimmers this season.

“I would like the community to know how swimming is an awesome sport and requires the athlete to be strong both physically and mentally,” Parrott said. “It’s unique in that swimmers compete to break their own personal records but also beat competitors from other teams.”

Rice said the team made great strides in unity as a team while improving individual skills.

“Swimming, although we’re a team, is an individual sport,” Rice said. “You swim on your own.”
