Sprinting across the field at football games with flags spelling C-A-N-Y-O-N, bringing energy to the pep rallies and performing funny skits to hype up the student body. The Purple Posse will be returning for its 22nd year.
Purple- Canyon High, Posse- a body of men summoned to bring the student body together.
“We needed people who were willing to do things and try new stuff,” Leader Teel Reeves said. “We have a bigger group this year and it’s a good group of guys.”
Reeves said he felt guilty ending the 22 year old tradition, so he decided to make it better this year. The Purple Posse now has 17 people which is five more than last year.
“It will keep the tradition alive which is good,” Reeves said. “It’ll bring more hype to everything around us, and we just want to be part of the school spirit.”
Last year the student body didn’t participate with the Purple Posse, so the leaders thought about ending Purple Posse. However, upon further consideration they decided to keep the tradition alive.
“Last year it didn’t feel like Purple Posse was as good and we needed it to be more dominant this year,” Reeves said. “We are going to try to do something more original, no boxing matches.”
The Purple Posse will be back at the Sep. 12, patriotic pep rally.
