School store to reopen following renovations
The entrepreneurship students will host a grand reopening of the school store,The Eagle’s Nest, in early September, following several remodels designed to increase functionality within the store.
Renovations include the addition of a back storeroom, the removal of walls previously used to separate students in ISS, the addition of a slat wall to hang merchandise and the addition of black chalkboard paint on other walls. Entrepreneurship teacher Marcie Cook said these remodels should have a positive effect on the Eagle’s Nest.
“Because of the remodel, the store will function a lot more smoothly, just for the traffic problems,” Cook said. “We have a storeroom in the back now where we can house all of our inventory, all of the decorations, everything that’s needed to run a business.”
Cook said the new design will allow the store to offer more merchandise in a larger space.
“Whenever you’re measuring a retail store, generally you measure it based on square footage,” Cook said. “The larger the square footage, the more merchandise you can have and the greater the sales and profit.”
