Drama Club to offer children’s class
Drama Club will offer a children’s drama class every Monday beginning on Jan. 12 for students in the first through eighth grades.
The class, taught by theater teacher Dave Yirak and his students, will be held from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. The class will cost $100 for the semester and will benefit Drama Club. Students who are interested can come to the CHS drama room on Jan. 12 for more information.
“Last semester’s class was awesome,” Yirak said. “We had a great bunch of kids, and we really enjoyed it. We would love to have a few more kids. I hope those who come learn an appreciation for getting up and preforming in front of people.”
The class will consist of pantomime, improvisation and acting with an end of the year showcase May 4.
“We are also going to do some dance exercises and maybe some music along with acting,” Yirak said. “We are going to get them ready to showcase their talents. I think they will have a lot of fun. “
Junior and Drama Club member Justin Johnson said that he enjoys spending time with the kids in the theater class.
“They have very creative minds for being so young,” Johnson said. “They are a lot of fun. I find great joy when I teach them how to do something and then get to act it out with them. I hope the kids learn how to become better actors. I’m hoping that we have more children come and enjoy all the fun that we have.”
Parents who want to enroll their children or who have any questions can call Yirak at (806) 220-6579 for more information.
