‘Cinderella’ auditions next Tuesday
Students can audition for the annual all-school musical Sept. 2 beginning at 4:15 p.m. in the auditorium.
Students interested in trying out for the technical theater crew will meet at 7 p.m. with dance auditions following at 8 p.m. All who audition must sing, act and dance. The two-act musical is an interpretation of the classic animated Disney movie.
“Cinderella is the story of a girl who wants to go to the ball,” director Dave Yirak said. “She can’t at first but then her dreams come true. In this particular version, she works up enough guts to make the impossible happen. So she goes to the ball, meets the prince and they fall in love. Of course, trouble ensues because she has to leave at midnight and so we go through the whole thing with the glass slipper. It’s an awesome classic story.”
Yirak said he is interested in the way the cast and crew will put together the musical.
“With this particular show there are going to be a lot of special effects and multimedia we can use,” Yirak said. “We have to make magic happen on stage. It will be a real challenge making a pumpkin become a coach and having successful costume changes.”
Technical director Trevor Fleeman said he hopes to create an incredible show for his peers and community to enjoy.
“We would love to have anyone willing to help our cast or crew,” Fleeman said. “With the great cast and crew that we plan to have, I know we will satisfy anyone that comes to watch.”
The musical will play the weekend of Nov. 16.
