Key Club membership drive to start with a bang

The Key Club will throw its annual Back-to-School Social this weekend, and everyone is invited.  There will pizza, Just Dance, music, games, movies and best of all, magic! The professional magician who was at senior registration will be back again for this social. Also, the opening ceremonies of the Key Club year will come with a blast of fireworks.

Club officers said Key Club will be giving away two free dues, valued at $30, to one boy and one girl. May the odds be ever in your favor. However, the student must be present at the social to win. If a member has paid dues and is an official member by the cutoff date, Sept. 18, the student will be entered in a drawing to win a brand new, white, iPod Touch 4G.

“I’m excited for the social,” Jonathon Kizer said. “This social will be an amazing start to the eventful year ahead of us. We will continue to work hard to make sure Key Club is fun and helps the community.”

The social will be from 7 – 12 on Saturday night, Sept. 8, and there will be a $5 pizza fee. The social will be at president Josh Collins’ house, 9000 Raburn Ln.  Key Club’s membership drive began Tuesday, Sept. 4 and will last until Sept. 18. Dues are $30 and include a shirt, membership card and the membership fee.

Josh Collins, Associate Editor
This one time, in Australia… Hello everyone! My name is Josh Collins, and I am an associate editor. I am a senior at Canyon High and am involved with several clubs and organizations. I am the president of Key Club, the president of National Honors Society, and am involved heavily with the American Sign Language Honor Society. I am also in the PRO program as well as the CHS End It movement. This summer I took a trip to Australia to attend a week long program at the University of Melbourne for the Young Leaders Winter Program. It was the best trip of my life, it opened my eyes to many cultural differences, and I loved every second. I also worked this summer at Ceta Canyon Methodist Church and Retreat Center. It was my second year working there and was an amazing experience. If I’m not at home napping, I am probably at Sonic or the movies. I love sushi, music, the ocean and writing! I especially love writing entertainment review and features. For college, my dream is to return to the University of Melbourne.
