The music album, “Ceremonials,” by Florence and the Machine, has to be one of the best all-around albums I’ve heard in quite a while. Unlike most albums I buy just because I like two or three songs on it, with “Ceremonials,” I love every song.
This English indie rock band has very unique sound, the lead vocals done by Florence Welch. The album itself almost seems to flip back and forth between a slower son to a more up-beat song, mixing up what is heard and changes the listener’s emotions frequently.
The voice of Welch alone is enough to make me fall in love with her music, not to mention the use of a diverse type of instruments, ranging from piano, to guitar, to harp and even some sounds done on a mixing board. The sounds used tie everything together to create an incredible sound.
The songs, all written by Welch, each have their own unique inspiration. Some songs are letting go of things and learning to move on, while others are about following your heart and pursuing your dreams. Every song has its own sound to it that matches the meaning of the song.
My favorite song in the album is “No Light, No Light” and tells the story of an abusive relationship, but for some reason she still loves him and won’t leave. The vocal ranges reached in this song along with the sounds of a harp truly amaze me. Other songs on the album, such as “Shake it Out” and “Lover to Lover” would be some of the more popular songs of the album, although I think a lot of the other songs never got the recognition they deserve.
All in all, “Ceremonials” has to be one of the most amazing albums I have ever heard. The songs are captivating and reach out to listeners in a way that is awe inspiring. This is an album that deserves a chance to be heard by the world.
