“My dad got me into shooting guns since I was tiny,” sophomore Bert De Groot said. “I tried it and I started liking it, I’ve kept doing it ever since. The first gun I ever shot was a BB gun, then the first shotgun was a twelve-gauge. I go to the gun club in Amarillo on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays to practice. I shoot 25 rounds and see how many targets I can hit out of 25, then there’s 5 stations that you can rotate through. The first time I ever shot, I shot a 17 out of 25 and I thought that was pretty cool. The highest I ever shot was 24 out of 25. I’m trying to get a 25, at 25 you get your hat shot so it’d be exciting. My favorite memory is getting to shoot with Sercy Peoples. That was a whole lot of fun. One day we were shooting and I was missing every shot, I was doing bad. He walked up and said ‘I know your problem’ so I asked him what it was. He said ‘you are just thinking too much’.”

Alexis Martinez, Newspaper, Head-Editor
Hey there! I am Alexis Martinez and this is my final year on staff, and I’m really excited for what the future holds for the program as well as myself. I’m proud to say I will be the head editor this year for the Eagle’s Tale newspaper. Some things about me are love the color green, ducks, cats, and so much more (if you want to know more, just ask). I love being able to share stories, whether it be here on the newspaper staff, fictional stories that have a deeper meaning, blogging, or whatever. I guess in the end time will only be the one to tell the tale. See you around! PS. I play the drums in “Crocodile Autonomy”
