Sitting atop a shelf of library books in the nonfiction section of the learning commons, a statue head is adorned with a paper face mask. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, those over the age of two should wear a face mask while in a public setting or around people who do not live with the person. However, masks are not a substitution for social distancing. Staying six feet apart from others while indoors is advised. The CDC actively studies face masks and the effectiveness of mask variants and continually updates the public on their website, cdc.gov/coronavirus.
