Musical auditions begin Aug. 22
Students can audition for the all-school musical, “Seussical,” Thursday, Aug. 22 in the auditorium at 4 p.m., with callbacks Friday, Aug. 23 at 6 p.m.
Students auditioning will sing a cutting from a song, with music sheets available in the choir and theater rooms. The music can be accessed through Google Classroom using the code eu0t0v. The Classroom provides information about rehearsals and other important dates.
After students sing, they will need to demonstrate dance skills in a short movement combination put together by the choreographer.
“The second day is callbacks, and that’s if I need to see more from somebody,” said Kylie Howell, theater teacher and musical director. “We’ll do cold readings from the script and maybe some additional singing if we need to.”
Those interested in being on the tech crew need to come to auditions and fill out a form. Those students will attend a meeting during callbacks.
Howell said prior experience isn’t necessary in order to audition.
“If you’re auditioning for the first time, know everyone wants you to be successful,” Howell said. “It’s an encouraging space to audition, but come as prepared as possible and do your best.”
