The Canyon Eagles will open their district play against the West Plains Wolves tonight. The Eagles head into the district season 4-1 while the Wolves enter district 2-3. The Wolves took home the boss bowl in the 2023-2024 football season with a score of 48-21.
“Our game last season against them didn’t go well.” senior Caden Barrow said. “We have some unfinished business to take care of.”
Barrow also said to win the Boss Bowl the team needs to start the game off on a strong foot to have success during this game.
“We have to come out and be the best we can be, and do everything with full effort,” Barrow said. “They have a lot of talent on the team.”
Barrow said they are going to be a tough team to beat and still has anger built up from the previous matchup.
Senior quarterback, Boston Bell, said he is confident that they can beat the Wolves.
“We are prepared but can’t make the moment too big,” Bell said
The two seniors agree that each position has to do its job and gain a quick start.
Defensive coordinator, John Quint, said he believes that the Eagles are prepared to win this season’s Boss Bowl.
“We [Canyon High School football] pride ourselves on always preparing for each game like it’s the most important game,” Quint said. “We prepare with the intent of winning.”
Quint said the Wolves are a high-quality opponent, that the team will treat as the most important game they have. The Eagles’ preparation could help meet Quint’s standards and bring success to the match-up.
“Staying together as a team and fighting through the challenges,” Quint said. “Rallying and overcoming those difficulties, while executing the game plan, will help us be successful.”
Quint said the team is a very physical team, and a positive team. Even when things go wrong they always find a way to rally behind each other and lift each other up.
“We need to focus on being the most physical team on the field,” Quint said. “That means executing each play with great intensity and purpose.”
