The football team will play Pampa Friday, Nov. 8 at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium in the last home game of the season. 

The team will go into the game with a 6-3 record following a three-game losing streak to Hereford, Dumas and Andrews. In their hopes to bounce back, the team will meet the 7-2 harvesters who fell to Dumas last week. 

“I’m looking forward to this game,” senior and middle linebacker Braxton Brown said. “Pampa is really good this year but so are we.”

Brown said Pampa’s strength lies in their passing game.

“They have a really solid quarterback this year,” Brown said. “He’s a senior. He’s accurate, athletic and not super fast but fast enough where we have to worry about that plus his passing game.”

The last home game features senior night to honor football seniors prior to when the game begins.

“It’s been a lot of fun,” Brown said. “We have a lot of good people on the team, and it’s been a really fun year. This is the beginning of the end.”

“The last home game ever is going to be pretty weird,” Brown said. “Actually this whole year is weird because I’ve been thinking ‘this is the end.’ I’ve played 13 years of football, and I’m never going to play again at Kimbrough after this. And after that I’ll only have a handful of games left. It’s a weird feeling.”

Halftime will honor band and cheerleader seniors.

“I haven’t really thought about it a whole lot,” drum major and senior Wade House said. “I’m really sure it will be a great experience though.”

Drum captain and senior Jack Wiegand said as a senior he took on many different roles.

“I had to be co-captain on the loading crew,” Weigand said. “And being a drum captain, I had to make sure my entire section really focused in the whole season. I had to be a role model and get everything done early. I had to make sure that not only was I as solid as I could be but everyone else was too.”

Wiegand said senior night acts as a tribute to seniors and their families.

“It’s not really a last thank you, but it’s the real beginning of our lasts,” Wiegand said. “We had our last marchathon, and that was pretty good. We had our last 7 a.m. and Monday rehearsals. This is like, in my opinion, the beginning of the ceremonies for the end. It’s the first time our accolades and everything we’ve done for the band get called out for the public. So it’s pretty nice for us.”
