Eagle tennis season to continue Sept. 23
The Canyon Eagle tennis team will match up against the Cooper Pirates Sept. 23 in Lubbock for a regular season contest.
Canyon most recently defeated the Caprock Longhorns Tuesday, Sept. 19 giving them a three and one record, with wins against the Caprock Longhorns, Dumas Demons and the Palo Duro Dons with one loss against the Randall Raiders. The Eagles will continue to play in the regular season until their final matchup against the Plainview Bulldogs Oct. 12. After completing the regular season, the Eagles will head to the district tournament.
“I love the game because it is a mental and physical game,” senior Shelbi Braudt said. “You have to be mentally prepared and mentally stronger than your opponent, while at the same time being physically prepared for any shot you have to run for.”
The Eagles were able to reach the regional tournament last season, before eventually falling there. This varsity team has two of their four team members from last season returning.
“My goal as a senior is to be the kind of leader people want to follow, and to make sure everyone knows they matter to the team,” Braudt said. “I also want to make sure everyone knows they can be involved in team activities.”

This was a really great story! Tennis and other activities don’t get much publicity! Keep up the good work guys!
