The Lady Eagles softball team has built strong momentum through their season this year, accumulating a district record of 4-0 after last week’s win over Caprock. With district play almost halfway complete, the team will continue their path to the playoffs by playing Randall, April 5 at home.

Junior Brynn Owen attributes much of the team’s success to the attitude they have maintained throughout the season.

“We try to be successful on the field by keeping a positive attitude no matter the situation and by playing to the best of our ability instead of being complacent,” Owen said.

Owen also said the team should do well in the future thanks to their consistent practice plan and strong team chemistry.

“We’ve been working on playing with less error on defense and being more aggressive at the plate,” Owen said. “Our team chemistry has improved this season, and we all get along really well. We have kept the same routine we’ve been following and keep setting goals for ourselves.”

Senior Cambry Hedger said she believes the team’s hard work and dedication at practice has transferred to the team’s play.

“We have worked hard on achieving the goals we have and sticking to them,” Hedger said. “We just have to continue working hard in practice and make the small things count. I am excited to see where this season goes because we are a tough group of girls who love to compete and play the game.”
