The Lady Eagles will advance to the regional semi-finals after defeating the Lady Dons 61-37 at Randall High School Feb. 23 in the regional quarter-finals.

As a result of a defense dominating game, the score at the end of the first half was 27-17, keeping the game tight. The Lady Eagles widened their lead in the third quarter and swept the Lady Dons in the fourth quarter. The regional semi-finals will be held in Snyder Feb. 26 against Aledo High School. Junior Faith Norman, wing player for the Lady Eagles, said the preparation needed for each game is a necessity to their success.

We continue to do our normal workouts, as well as studying the other teams so we know how to play against them,” Norman said. “Every team is different and every week it feels like the same thing, but you have to do it, because every team is a threat that you have to prepare for.”

As the season is nearing an end, Norman said she plans to follow in the seniors’ footsteps as they wrap up their last season of basketball.

I can improve by leading by example and being louder on the floor because I am kind of quiet,” Norman said. “I want to be more like the seniors we have this year because they have been amazing in helping us grow as a team. They are a great group of girls to look up to and strive to be like in every way.”

Norman said her favorite part of the season is building a solid chemistry with her teammates and the journey to state.

“I enjoy being with the team, working hard with them and learning how to work together,” Norman said. “I like getting closer to everyone, and it hasn’t been too hard because we spend so much time together. My favorite part of the basketball season are the games, especially the games towards the end of the season.”
