JV soccer ties Pampa
The JV girls’ soccer team kicked off their season by playing Pampa on Tuesday night, ending in a 1-1 tie. The Lady Eagles will play the Dumas Demons Jan. 24 in Dumas.
The team practices every day after school until 5:30 p.m. The girls also practice before school and during soccer period. Freshman Faith Weavers, who scored the goal for the Lady Eagles Tuesday night, said the team works hard during practice to prepare for upcoming games.
“I think we’ve performed well as a team, but we can improve,” Weavers said. “I expect us to become close as a team and to play as hard as we can every game.”
Freshman Sarah Gilliland said the team performed well and stayed strong throughout the game.
“I think that the team played very well,” Gilliland said. “I was impressed with the way we worked together. I think this season looks extremely promising.”
Gilliland said her favorite thing about soccer is that she can become close to the other soccer girls.
“I like the fact that we are all friends and we get along,” Gilliland said. “I like how we can goof off but at the same time, we can be serious enough to get work done.”
