Boys’ basketball teams to play Caprock tonight
The varsity boys’ basketball team came out of a loss to the Randall Raiders last Tuesday in a close game of 43-47 before destroying the Demons in Dumas last Friday night with a score of 67-53 and adding to their record of 14-9.
“I think it kind of opened up our mind that anyone could beat us no matter how good they are,” senior Cody Price said. “We had two really good days of practice and really focused and worked on our game and came out big against Dumas.”
Canyon will play their next game against the Caprock Longhorns tonight at 7:30.
“We beat Caprock at their home, but they’re still a good really good scrappy team, and then after this first half of district we feel like a really solid team and we know what to expect from everyone now,” Price said.
The game will be played in support of Coach Crenshaw who is battling cancer.
“It’s like a way of life for him, it really is,” Price said. “It teaches him life lessons as he teaches us. We can tell he applies to his life and our life as well like perseverance, adversity and all stuff like that.”
Coach Guy Crenshaw coached at Caprock High School prior to Canyon.
